Sunday, March 12, 2017

In his speech in the opening session of the 27th international conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Shawki Allam, called upon all religious institutions worldwide to undertake the responsibility to face the challenges and threats currently encountering the Muslim world. He exhorted them to promote sound religious perspectives to face radicalization and terror groups.

The two-day international conference launched on Saturday, March 11, 2017 in Cairo is held under the auspices of President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, and is titled, “The Role of Leaders and Decision Makers in Promoting Peace and Encountering Terrorism”.
Dr. Allam confirmed in his speech that terrorism knows no religion or homeland. He said, “Through exploring the evidences on which those extremists base their ideologies, we at Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta, have concluded that they misinterpret legal texts and do not draw upon sound legal evidences.”

Dr. Allam concluded that the entire world is under heinous fierce attacks by the terrorist groups and this requires continuous cooperation and coordination to encounter the extremist ideologies and aberrant fatwas that cannot stand up to sound scholarly methodologies.
