Egypt’s Grand Mufti, Dr. Shawki Allam, received a high-level Indonesian delegation in his office on Thursday morning to investigate the means of enhancing cooperation between Indonesia and Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta in combating extremism and correcting the misconceptions about Islam. The delegation included the minister of religious affairs, Indonesian ambassador to Egypt, head of Al-Azhar Alumni Association in Indonesia and a number of Indonesian media figures.

During their meeting, Dr. Allam pointed out that Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta is working tirelessly to combat terrorism’s global threat through a number of procedures including its observatory for monitoring the takfiri fatwas and extremist ideologies. “Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta confirms its full support to Indonesian Muslims and we are ready to provide them with all the necessary religious and Shari’ah content they need to combat terrorism,” Dr. Allam said.

From their part, the guests greatly appreciated the support that the noble Azhar and Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta provide to Indonesian Muslims to help them learn and promote the true teachings of Islam.

Dr. Allam handed the guests copies of a volume containing the last ten issues of “Insight” magazine in English that respond to Daesh “Dabiq”.
